My partner has been offered a job in Dubai, but we are not married. Would it be illegal for me to visit him if I booked myself a hotel and he joins me?

there is no problem. you are free residents in dubai as long as you do not get on to the wrong side of the law. no one checks whether you both are married or not. so go ahead and have a good time in dubai.

You do not have to tell the hotel that he is joining you, just get 2 keys and make sure he knows the room number, they you both can come and go as you please.

If you tell the truth you might find some problems.
