Indian National travelling from USA to India, need transit Visa

I am a valid Indian passport holder currently in US. My current US work Visa has expired and I will be getting the stamping done when I fly back to India in the next couple of months, I have the approval notice for the US Visa extension. I am planning to travel to India in March and wanted to check the option of getting a Transit Visa in Dubai for 2 days on my way to India from USA.

Based on the current situation that my US Visa has expired (I have the extension approval notice), when I fly from USA to India via Dubai, will I get a Transit Visa? Or should I have a valid US Visa in order to get a Dubai Transit Visa?
