Dubai has become one of the top tourist destinations in the world, courtesy the emirates' authoritative monitoring of the tourism flow as well as the region's exclusive aura. Even though the premise of the Dubai's tourism inflow is the shopping extravaganza within the region. The Dubai city is also famous for its exquisite heritage and equally flamboyant modern architecture (such as the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab Dubai).
Dubai Tourist Visa General Information
For visitors wishing entry into the Dubai city, one needs to possess a visa (apart from a passport and allied legal documents). One of the most common visa type used by tourists is the Dubai Tourist Visa, which is probably the easiest way into the financial capital of the Arab world. While tourists from a selected group of nationalities can obtain their visas right at the Dubai International Airport, others need to arrange for the same prior to their arrival. The visa provides a maximum of 30 days of stay for the tourists and is not renewable under any circumstances.
Citizens from AGCC (Arab Gulf Co-operation Council) states do not require a visa to Dubai. Apart from them, tourists from some European nations and Australasia also are exempted from possessing a Tourist Visa Dubai.
Dubai Tourist Visa Requirements
Tourist Visa for Dubai can be offered by a sponsor in the country or by a hotel or tour operator from within the Dubai city itself. This requires the sponsor to provide the visa as soon as the tourist embarks at the Dubai airport, failing which entry may be barred for the latter. Travel insurance and passport are also mandatory for visiting Dubai.
How to Apply for Dubai Tourist Visa?
While those exempt from holding a Dubai city tourist visa need not apply for the same, others need to apply for it in advance. The Embassy of UAE as well as tour operators and hotels can arrange for the same. The latter requires booking of the minimum service package available (one-day room bookings in the minimum for hotels).
To obtain a tourist visa for Dubai from an UAE embassy, you will need the following documents:
Passport
2 photographs
Duplicate application form
Letter or fax from the sponsor in the UAE to the embassy concerned
A letter from the applicant's company plus photocopy
How much does Dubai Tourist Visa cost?
The general fee for obtaining a tourist visa to Dubai city is 100 Dirham. However, if you are planning to get the same through a tour operator or a hotel in the region, they may levy an extra charge on the actual fees – which however does not exceed 50 Dirham. Even though renewal of the visa is not allowed, you may ask for an extension (once-only for a period of 30 days) from the concerned Consulate or Dubai authorities.
Finally, please remember that overstaying on your tourist visa Dubai can cost you a whopping fine of 100 Dirham, along with another 100 Dirham for each day past the legally allowed limit of stay. So, make sure that you are in the city legally. And then you can shop till you drop!
