The Bani Yas tribe was among the first people who settled in Dubai in the early 18th century. Hence, the history of Dubai is not too old.

The signing of the General Maritime Treaty in 1820, the complete take over of Dubai by the Bani Yas tribe in 1833, the signature of the Perpetual Maritime Truce in 1835, the Exclusive Agreement between Dubai and the UK in 1892, the adoption of the UAE dirham in 1973 and the enthronement of the various rulers are some of the important landmarks in the history of Dubai.

Arabic is Dubai’s official language and Islam is its official religion but languages like English, Urdu, Hindi, Malayalam, Persian, Punjabi, Tagalog and Tamil, and religions like Sikhism, Hinduism and Christianity are widespread here.

Dubai is situated between Sharjah and Abu Dhabi on the Persian Gulf. The economy of Dubai UAE depends on banking, trade, and tourism and now even on IT and media. The property and real estate market is also in a boom phase especially due to the new projects like The Palm.

There are a number of transport options available in Dubai UAE. The bus service is cheap and is available on a large scale. However, many people do not consider this service as too reliable.

The taxi is a very reasonable and easily available mode of transport here. There are currently no trains operating in Dubai. However, the metro services will soon begin. The waterway, with the numerous dhows, abras and boats, is quite popular too. Most people use the airlines to reach Dubai.

You cannot fall short of entertainment in Dubai UAE. From sightseeing options to discotheques it has it all. There are various events, like the DSF and the DSS, held all throughout the year.

These attract a host of tourists to the city. The shopping malls and restaurants are other attractions too.
